Great book, the story is really about passion and how it was manifested in many guises. Gyles (Chillingworth) isn't really a Cynster but he's an honorary member, I enjoyed reading about him through the previous Cynster novels and his character is really amusing. Upon reading this book I knew I would like it as I'm very intrigued with his character. This didn't disappoint, I'm very pleased with the story, as it went on it made me curious and anxious at the same time to read about Chillingworth's internal battle on falling in love. As for Francesca's character, I warmed up to her immediately, as far as the Cynster books I've read, she's my new favorite. She's different from the other heroines, she's more spirited, reckless, wild and passionate (I can't find a more pat term), and zealous. She's also very candid and transparent. The author really took time in describing how the Gyles and Francesca spent their time together and get to know each other better. She's a really strong woman who knows what she wants and knows how to get it, however hurtful the process is. In doing what she did, the results are more rewarding. On another note, the mystery is very predictable. I knew from the start who's been causing some accidents but the writing a letter and meeting somewhere plot is really getting worn out, I think she used it like four times already and usually it's nearing the end of the novel we would read about it, then all loose ends would be tied up. Despite of that, I'll still pick up this book and recommend it. ( )

Hero chooses bride without being introduced, and plot contrivances mean they don't meet until at the altar. So, so overall. ( )

Another sucess for Stephanie Laurens. I like how she explores the life of not just the Cynster family but also Cynster connections. It's nice to know about Giles's life. ( )

Gyles Rawlings, better known as Chillingworth, arranges a marriage to what he believes is a spiritless woman who will make an amenable wife. Of course he ends up with another and love and passion result. Good, but not great. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com (ISBN 0380812029, Mass Market Paperback)

Gyles Rawlings, fifth Earl of Chillingworth and an honorary member of the Cynster clan, is determined not to marry for love. To that end, he makes an offer of marriage, sight unseen, to the niece of an old friend. He believes he's chosen a docile, biddable lady who will bear him an heir and leave his emotions uninvolved. He arrives for his own wedding without ever actually meeting his fianc&eaccute; and at the chapel's altar, is astonished to discover that he's offered for the wrong woman--his wife is the cousin of the woman he thought he was marrying. The two ladies share the same name, and the woman he has married is a passionate female who makes his head spin. Francesca isn't docile, certainly not biddable, and she has no intention of settling for anything less than her husband's heart.

The battle lines are drawn in this war of love, with both parties well aware of the stakes. Will Giles continue to barricade his heart, or will Francesca's love and loyalty tear down the walls that keep him from her? And if Giles can't thwart the strange threats to Francesca's life, neither may live to see the end of their contest of the heart.

This installment in author Stephanie Laurens's beloved Cynster series has been eagerly anticipated by fans, and All About Passion doesn't disappoint. Taut with sexual tension between the hero and heroine, rich with details of the world of Regency England, and well-supported with a solid plot, this latest Cynster tale is an excellent read. --Lois Faye Dyer
