This book has a good story line about a Fourth of July family pinic, but it lacks excitment and energy. This lack of excitment is due to the text. The text is somewhat long and doesn't create a fun exciting story where kids could really get engaged. Even though the text isn't that exciting Raul Colon does a really good job capturing the importance of the story. He brings the joy of family and fun with the details and expressions throughout each illustration. Overall, the book is decent and creates a story that alot of kids can relate too.
