THANKSGIVING: A HARVEST CELEBRATION by Julie Stiegemeyer is a story that gets children to understand how Thanksgiving came about. It starts out explaining that many white people came over to learn from the native people on how to hunt and cook certain foods. Once the white people figured out how to hunt, cook, and preserve their food they went off to try it for themselves. It took them a couple of years to finally get a good harvest but once they did they threw a big dinner to celebrate a good harvest. This story would be good to read in a classroom to help students understand how Thanksgiving came about. The illustrations in the book are hand painted with very well done details. ( )

A wonderful book that teaches about the Pilgrims voyage across the Atlanta, their difficult first winter, their relationship with helpful Natives, and the first Thanksgiving. It puts alot of emphasis on maintaining a positive attitude during difficult times and looking for the ways God continues to bless us. If you are looking for a Thanksgiving book that comes from the Pilgrims point of view in a religious way, this book is A+ ( )
