Thisd is a formidable tome, with huge amounts of statistics now outdated, and pretty lucid discussions of British events. Those events are talked about but not related, it being assumed that the reader knows what happened. There are 'heavy' discussions of 'Britsh Thought' which requrie close attention,, and cannot be merely skimmed. And the recent events are discussed in the light of what the world was in 1962, so one wishes we knew what the author would have said if he knew what the world was like today. ( )
