There were so many angles to consider that I did not guess the murderer until the end. And of course, all ends well for Theodosia. ( )Theodosia comes across a murdered body that unfortuantely turns out to be her ex-boyfriends sister. As she makes inquires into the people that were involved in Abbys life she gets too close for comfort and almost loses her life in the process. It's always a delight to visit with Theodosia, Drayton, and the other employees and friends of the Indigo Tea Shop in Charleston. Theodosia stumbles across the body of her old boyfriend's sister Abby. As usual, she becomes involved in the investigation which leads her to several places between Charleston and Savannah searching for clues. I have to admit being a bit surprised by the culprit even though that person was one of my early suspects, but have to admit that I should have paid a little more attention to a few of the clues along the way. This has become my favorite cozy mystery series! Oolong Dead does not disappoint. Oolong Dead is Laura Childs' 10th tea shop mystery and her 18th book. It is the first book of Childs' that I have read. The story opens with Indigo Tea Shop owner Theodosia (Theo) Browning riding in an annual horse race in Charleston, SC when her horse stumbles after seeing a dead body. The victim, Abby Davis, is the sister of Theo's ex-boyfriend. Abby was a TV news anchor and had had several public arguments with Theo in the past. Abby did not want Theo dating her brother Jory. When Jory asks Theo to help investigate, she begins to ask questions of everyone who knew Abby. Theo receives some remarkable information about Abby's current and former loves as well as a secret society that meets in the middle of the night at an abandoned estate. There are also some problems at Abby's job where she had been doing investigative reporting on the secret society and the disappearance of the son of one of Charleston's wealthiest families. Some of the suspects include former anchorman Webster Hall who was fired in order to make way for Abby, Abby's husband Drew, who was probably aware of her affair with a local merchant, and Theo herself. Other prominent characters are tea shop employees Drayton and Haley who round out Theo's daily contacts. The culture of Charleston is perfectly portrayed in Oolong Dead. The operation of the tea shop is central to the story and I enjoyed it immensely. Recipes for tea time treats are included at the end of the story and I photocopied them for future use. Oolong Dead was a relaxing read for this warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. I highly recommend it. This is a wonderful page turner that I just finished. I just loved it--very suspenseful and kept you on the edge of your seat. Full of intrigue and excitement and worth a reread in the future. Fantastic! no reviews | add a review
