I'd read Peter & Wendy before (under the simple title "Peter Pan"). Reading Peter in Kensington Gardens and learning more about the history of how Peter came to be was very interesting. Now to go find the Little White Bird.

Since I've always been a huge fan of Peter Pan, I wanted to read the original story and delved into this book. It's the story of the time Peter Pan spent in Kensington Gardens before he came to Neverland, and then his famous adventures with Wendy, the Pirates, and all those other fantastic characters in Neverland. THE original, a wonderful read, not just for children. This is a great book to make you dream and reawaken the child inside yourself. Absolutely fabulous!!! ( )

This book is a prequel to J. M. Barries Peter Pan. It doesn't explain much except how Peter got to Neverland in the first place. It wasn't bad, but it's not as good as Peter Pan. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0192839292, Paperback)

In Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, J.M. Barrie first created Peter Pan as a baby, living a wild and secret life with birds and fairies in the middle of London. Later Barrie let this remarkable child grow a little older and he became the boy-hero of Neverland, making his first appearance, with Wendy, Captain Hook, and the Lost Boys, in Peter and Wendy. The Peter Pan stories were Barrie's only works for children but, as their persistent popularity shows, their themes of imaginative escape continue to charm even those who long ago left Neverland. This is the first edition to include both texts in one volume and the first to a present an extensively annotated text for Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.
