Good collection of early (Asylum label) Tom Waits. Emphasis is on the romantic slumpoet boozer persona rather than the more experimental music Waits created for the later Island albums. Taken collectively, this is a nice forerunner of the kind material Waits would bring into focus for the excellent Rain Dogs album.

This compilation was apparently never issued on cd. Vinyl copies are scarce, and may be obtained for the price of a nonessential organ. ( )
