Marine captain Travis McCormick lost his nerve when he was severely injured by a bomb blast while training for a SpecOps mission. Anxious to get back to his unit, he pushes himself too hard and impedes his recovery, so his superiors order him back home for physical therapy with his best friend Tess.

Tess has lusted after Travis forever, and in exchange for helping him convince his father and his superiors that he still has what it takes, she wants basic training in seduction.

Meanwhile Travis' long-time rival, bent on revenge, has the power to take away everything Travis has ever wanted.

If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be: Hot. The relationship between Travis and Tess just sizzles, but the book also explores their friendship, insecurities and what it means to love a military man with admirable truth.

The rivalry story is a bit too extreme, too pat, for my tastes (I wonder if there was a prequel?), but it didn't detract much from the story. I enjoyed this one. ( )
