Plot moves very quickly! It's a nice quick read. Good character development... Except for Alexander... He is a mystery.
I love this series. It mixes mystery with adventure and love. ( )

I am sure there are those out there who would disagree with me, but it was hard to enjoy this book after reading Twilight. Although it is well written, nicely balanced with drama, tension and humour, I just didn't get into it as much. It may be because, as an adult reader, I don't see the point in writing about vampires or it could be because the world of fiction is saturated with vampires right now. This novel encompasses books 1-3 of Vampire Kisses - a great thing if you love the book. It is definitely written for teen readers (probably girls) who would get into the drama and angst. It is probably better if readers choose one 'vampire' series and stick with it to avoid comparisons as I have. ( )

This version of Vampire Kisses is actually the first three books of this eight book series in one: And I'm really glad it was! Vampire Kisses was fast paced from start to finish. Raven is a tough cookie- she is a vampire-obsessed risk taker who doesn't let anyone walk all over her, or anyone else for that matter. Alexander is a home-schooled, soulful boy with a fangtastic secret to hide who longs to be with her. When the two finally meet sparks fly. Together they work to find a way to be together without drawing too much attention to the fact that Alex is never seen during the day, while also trying to rid the town of two new vampires set on dethroning them as the towns most Gothic King and Queen.

Schreiber writes well to YA/Early teen readers. Her style is easy to read and flows well, and there are several comedic moments to break up the more tense scenes. If you haven't been to her website, go check it out. Ellen Schreiber looks like just the kind of fun gal you'd love to have as a friend. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! ( )

"Raven is exactly the kind of girl a Goth can look up to."

"Schreiber's writing style is frank and funny, and she captures the angst of first love perfectly."

Schreiber was a standup comedienne before becoming a writer; and her talent with humor is apparent in this story. The main character is Raven, who lives in a boring town where she stands out as a "goth," wearing strange make-up and dreaming of becoming a vampire--or at least meeting one. Much of the narrative reads like a comic monologue, with good timing for jokes

VAMPIRE KISSES is a wonderfully funny story. Even non-vampire fans will enjoy this one!
