To better stalk a 16-year-old student, a 24-year-old man takes a job in her high school as a janitor, where he leverages her accidentally breaking a window into her helping to do his custodial work. He gaslights her constantly by denying knowledge about the secret identity of a guardian angel whom she texts for help and support. Knowing she lives alone, he is able to sneak into her apartment when she is sick and give her a kiss while she is too groggy to know who he is. He spies on her constantly and sneaks in physical contact with her whenever he can.

How romantic!

Obviously the audience must cheer for their eventual, inevitable marriage in the final volume. (No spoiler, just an assumption.)

Now excuse me as I go shower all the ick off me. ( )

This manga is so good, possibly one of my favorites. The characters are funny and lovable. Teru, the MC, is nice caring, but sometimes acts without thinking things all the way through. Kurosaki is willing to do anything for her, though he hides his real feelings. ( )

This review is posted on both my personal account and the account for Crossroads Public Library.

It’s all so sweet and funny and then the drama makes everything so tense and oh! I can’t say enough nice things about it. ( )

I originally read the first 3 or 4 volumes of DD online several years ago, before it was licensed here. I fell in love with it because it had that perfect blend of humor and romance that not a lot of shoujo series get right (because they focus too much on a dramatic female antagonist who starts way more crap than any real person would), and the premise was interesting.

Life got in the way, I stopped reading it, and then happened to see it on the shelves at B&N one day. I didn't start collecting the volumes until this year, but I knew for sure I would pick them up because of how much I enjoyed what I read way back.

Teru is a likable female lead--strong, smart but sometimes goofy, but also still a pretty normal teenage girl who has her share of normal-ish problems. Kurosaki is the can-be-really-scary-but-is-actually-super-sweet type, and provides a good contrast to Teru. Their interactions are always a good laugh.

There is the age difference, which might freak some people out? She's in high school and he's an adult, though their ages aren't mentioned in the first volume, so I don't remember what the gap is (if it ever IS mentioned). I think he might be around 22? I don't think any real romancing happens until later, anyway, so we'll see how that pans out. ( )

Cute. Funny. Totally swoonworthy guy.

Need any more reasons? ( )
