A really darling book with great illustrations. Two children, guided by a crow (appropriate, since crows as well of ravens symbolise knowledge), meet many common birds. The crow gives them a paragraph of clues to the birds identity and you're supposed to guess the answer (found in the back of the book). What a great introduction for young children to the many birds around us and most of which are common enough that they will have been seen before. ( )
