This is a well written book about different races. The olors of the rainbow are tied to colors of humanity. A Rainbow All Around Me celebrates the cultural differences in all of us. I would recommend this book as a read aloud for young children. It would be a great way to teach children that everyone is special in their own way.

This book is so pretty. On each page it shows a different color with a little kid dressed in that color. Then it shows the kids using or eating something that color as well. For example on the green page the girl is in a green dress laying in the green grass. The pictures are so bright and vivid it really shows the kids the colors of the rainbow. ( )

Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 043930928X, Hardcover)

What comes to mind when you think of the color black? How about white? Blue? Yellow? Green? In their vibrant book about color, Sandra and Myles Pinkney step beyond the basic color-teaching concept to encourage young readers to consider color in a broader spectrum. Accompanying simple, dynamic text, photos of many multicultural children fill the pages of this book, representing a veritable rainbow of ethnic groups. A Hungarian Italian boy, swathed in denim, is on the blue page: "Cool / RUGGED / Sippin' on a hot day / Relaxing in the BREEZE." The green page is for an African American-Native American-Portuguese girl. Brown is Vietnamese, Tan--West African, Pink—-Dutch German. Each spread is filled with the luscious featured color: purple jam, purple T-shirt, purple teddy bear; tan sand, tan outfit. Children of all backgrounds will love learning their colors with the cute, very real-looking kids on these pages. Sandra and Myles Pinkney previously collaborated on Shades of Black : A Celebration of Our Children. (Ages 2 to 5) --Emilie Coulter
