Part 2, on poplarware, is the strongest, outlining the basics of this Shaker industry and its development, as well as differences between communities. The basket section, however, seems sparse, giving examples from only a few of the Eastern communities. As a field guide, it is surprising that it omits the basketry of Western Shaker villages entirely. ( )
