I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The best feature is that this gives a superb insight into what it is like to be the Prime Minister. It is fascinating to be along side Tony Blair. making decisions of life and death, whilst still needing to keep an eye on the everyday policies and being a family man.

The book is written from a neutral stance; TB is not a hero, or a villain - that is for the reader and, as we are constantly reminded, history to decide. Whether one supports the war in Iraq, or not, this book adds significantly to one's understanding of the thought processes which lead our leader to stand fore square with George Bush.

If I were to find fault, it would be that Peter Stothard, occasionally displays a poetic bent, detailing the landscape, the sunrise or even, at one stage, a paper lying on the floor in number ten, in excess detail. This is a minor fault in an excellent book, and I am a blue meanie for having deducted half a star on such a trivial basis. ( )
