Iris loved going to school and her teacher. She was excited to tell grandpa all about her day everyday after school. One day when her teacher is sick she finds out her grandpa will be the substitute for her class. Iris was so excited because grandpa let her be the helper for the day. All the kids tell her how nice her grandpa is and Iris feels proud. The next day Iris was disappointed because grandpa picked someone else to be the helper. She felt grandpa wasn't paying her much attention. She was so sad she didn't even want to pick out something for her teacher. After spending some much needed time with her grandpa she is back to normal. Her teacher is back the next day when she goes to school and she is happy because now she can have grandpa all to herself. Wow. I've been noticing, reading this series, that Iris really has lots of people doting on her, being patient with her, wanting her to be happy. Well, now we see the consequences - when she doesn't get her way, she pouts, and gets compensated with ice cream. She really needs to get over herself. And I want to see more of Walter. ( )

This is a good book for beginning readers. It uses great illustrations to foretell the story. It's a great family book. ( )
