Girl traveling around the US taking photo's and finding her family after years of searching, and they all were happy to be found. Not very realistic. ( )NCLA Review -When a devastating fire kills the parents of an immigrant family in New York, three children are taken to an orphanage. Maelle has had her hair cut short because of nits and everyone thinks she is a boy. She doesn't try to change anyone's mind because it would mean she would be separated from her brother Mattie. Baby sister Molly has already been given away to a rich couple. Maelle and Mattie are sent on the orphan train to Missouri and become separated. Seventeen years later, Maelle has given up hope of ever finding Mattie or Molly when circumstances lead them all to a small Missouri town. God has a way of answering prayers when you least expect it. Rating: 3 —NP 343p, Bethany 2008, 978-0-7642-0262-9. $13.99 [813.6] I wasn't going to finish it at first, but once I got into it, I really liked it. Her characters are real and not too goody-goody, just because they are Christian. I did not know ahead of time that this was a religious book, I stuck with it, and was overall disappointed, the ending was all wrapped up with a neat little bow no loose ends. It was too neat and cheerful for me. And that just never seems realistic to me. I did enjoy the beginning of the storyline, and I liked the main characters. Orphaned in a tenament fire, three Irish-immigrant children are sent to Missouri to be adopted. Each child is taken by a different family but 8 year old Maelle vows that she will never stop searching for her brother and sister, and that they will be together one day in the future. Seventeen years later, Maelle is still searching. What are Mattie & Molly doing now? Where has life taken them? Join Maelle on her journey of faith, discovery, and restoration. no reviews | add a review
