Very quick, light reading...perfect for a beach read. A mixture of magic, time-travel, fairy tale, and romance with present-day Adrienne and sixteenth century Scottish laird, Hawk. Fairly predictable plot with a heroine who has sworn off attractive, womanizing men and the dashing rogue who desires only her...I think the author missed an opportunity to enhance the story by not giving the reader enough background on the fairy royal court and existence of magical powers, but overall, it was an average plot. I liked it enough to re-listen to the story even after I found the similarities to Elizabeth Lowell's Untamed. ( )

Karen Marie Moning is one of my favorite romance writers. This series is what opened me up to time travel and the idea of paranormal romance. It's probably because of this that is holds such a special place in my heart. I have read and reread this series countless times and still am never disappointed. ( )

From reading the other reviews I had high expectations for this book and it did not disappoint. Loved the main characters. Looking forward to reading the entire series. ( )

This was a fun, fast read. More of a fairy tale than anything else. ( )

And as she stepped into the archway, Grimm melted out of the shadows. She stopped, relieved. Try that again, she told herself. Write that scene one more time, Adrienne de Simone. It reads: she stopped, furious at being denied escape.

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0440234808, Mass Market Paperback)

He would sell his warrior soul to possess her. . . .

An alluring laird...

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart—until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length—but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time...

She had a perfect "no" on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side. . . .
