The School of Dying Graces is a deep and beautifully honest and well written book. The writing is an easy prose-like style that brings beautiful images within shortly arranged chapters. It chronicles the spiritual journeys of Dr. Richard Felix, a university president, and that of his wife, Vivian, as they face life-destroying cancer that ultimately claims the life of Vivian. When Vivian first learns of her diagnosis she courageously makes preparation spiritually for dying over a period of more than two years. But even while making this preparation she doesn't relent on fighting for her life and living life to the fullest.. Dr. Felix observes how his wife prepares herself for dying. This provides the major content of the book. However within the book Dr. Felix offers surprises that bring thought provoking truths that leave one feeling inspired and hopeful, even in the face of death. ( )
