Genre: Science Fiction

This is a good example of science fiction because it is about a young boy, Patrick, who was looking up dinosaurs on the internet, and before he went to bed, a dinosuaur looked through his computer monitor and said he was coming to get him. Soon, there was a spaceship outside of Patrick's window, where the dinosaur Flato was waiting for him. Flato then proceeded to leave Earth and go to another planet that his school was on. Flato introduced Patrick as his show and tell. Patrick got to go to the outer space dinosaur school until he was almost eaten by a T-Rex and had to go back home in the space ship. From then on, Patrick saw dinosaurs in the stars.

Character: The antagonist in this story is Rex, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. While Patrick was playing outside, Rex started running toward him with a bib and a fork and was breathing down his neck about to eat Patrick until Flato grabbed him and saved him from Rex. Rex was not kind for scaring all the other dinosaurs away and for almost eating Patrick.

Review: This book is a good example of science fiction because a boy, Patrick, loves looking at dinosaurs. One night, while looking at them on the Internet, he doesn't see that they are looking back at him through the computer screen. That evening, a friendly creature invites Patrick to travel in a spaceship to dinosaur planet to be his show-and-tell. Patrick goes on many adventures, which includes an intergalactic soccer game against a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He travels back to earth and ends up dreaming about dinosaurs again.
Media: This is a good example of ink and wash because the pictures are outlined neatly and have well-blended colors to give an even look. The illustrator did a fantastic job mirroring the texts so readers were able to be carried away with the imagery.
Characterization: Patrick is a round character because as he goes on this wild adventure, he gains more knowledge on dinosaurs and how they view humans. His character develops more fully by the end of his journey. Readers are able to relate to Patrick. ( )
