It's always a strange feeling when you finish one of these. I know it's not the end, but having just spent 6 weeks reading this, I feel a bit listless.

Not at all my favorite in the series. I find William an absolute bore and found myself shutting down everytime it was his POV.

SO MUCH happened in the last 60-70 pages that I felt dizzy. I adore Ian and Rachel so much. ( )

More drama as Jamie and Claire try to get back to Scotland to retrieve his printing press. Detoured, they land in the middle of battles for the Revolution in New York, where Jamie is once again leading the soldiers but this time he has worries for the survival of the other side as well. More characters are introduced along the way as well as more insight into William, Jamie's illegitimate son. We say good-bye to some of the favorite characters that we've grown fond of as well. Drastic measures are taken, as always in these books, and the ending left me wanting to reach out for the next book in line. Great drama, though the writing is a bit verbose at times. ( )

I normally really enjoy this series, and the characters still keep me involved and engaged in their lives. I felt like there were a lot of loose ends with this one though that were either sloppily tied up or left hanging. Maybe in the next one, it will clear up a bit. But for now, I'm not very excited about this one. ( )

Loved this one. I'm glad I hadn't read it before now, though, with all the cliffhangers at the end. Here's hoping the next (and last, I think) book comes out sometime this year! I'm going to miss these characters when the series is done. ( )

Book description
Readers have been waiting with bated breath for the seventh volume in bestselling author Diana Gabaldon’s epic Outlander saga — a masterpiece of historical fiction featuring Jamie and Claire, from one of the genre’s most popular and beloved authors.

Jamie Fraser, erstwhile Jacobite and reluctant rebel, knows three things about the American rebellion: the Americans will win, unlikely as that seems in 1778; being on the winning side is no guarantee of survival; and he’d rather die than face his illegitimate son — a young lieutenant in the British Army — across the barrel of a gun. Fraser’s time-travelling wife, Claire, also knows a couple of things: that the Americans will win, but that the ultimate price of victory is a mystery. What she does believe is that the price won’t include Jamie’s life or happiness — not if she has anything to say.

Claire’s grown daughter Brianna, and her husband, Roger, watch the unfolding of Brianna’s parents’ history — a past that may be sneaking up behind their own family.
