What did you think of Short Girls? I've seen it on the shelves at the bookshop, and I'd love to get an opinion before I bite the bullet and get it. Vietnam - Short Girls by Bich Minh Nguyen
This is first and foremost a story about two sisters and their (developing a) relationship, and second a story about immigration and assimilation. Nguyen manages to reveal the sisters' past without writing a lumbering exposition, and their ... ... a second-generation Chinese Canadian myself, I particularly like books about the immigrant experience. I recently read Short Girls by Vietnamese author Bich Minh Nguyen. I just looked at your list and the choices are intriguing. I'd like to read more from Japanese authors. #139 Short Girls looks good, its been added to the TBR mountain.
I am currently reading Trouble by Jesse Kellerman and finding it okay. The reviews are very average so I wasn't expecting great things. Just finished Short Girls by Bich Minh Nguyen (pretty good stuff) and picked up In the Kitchen by Monica Ali again, which I started a few months ago but decided to put down for a while. ... match up. Lovers of Historical Fiction should really like this one. I did.
