I'll admit I just read this because I really thought I'd finish the book I was almost done with afterwards so I wouldn't end the year on this. It didn't work out that way. My son first read this series when he was 10 and he's 13 now and still holding onto them...I think they're maybe too dark for 10-year-olds and too juvenile for 13-year-olds having read this one. The one thing I did really like though was at the back of the book where Lubar explains his thought process for each story. I thought that was interesting and cool to read. ( ) Saplings that could grow into Twilight Zone episodes. Most are at least a little funny, a few are poignant, a few are truly creepy. Perfect for 9-12 year-olds, surprisingly fun for anyone else who just can't get enough of short-short SF&F stories. I will look for more by the author. Oh, the 'Weenies series' books definitely stand alone. no reviews | add a review
