Lily Yu's grandmother is AWESOME. I have given the book a whole extra star just because she is so AWESOME.(Though it's been so long since I read the books that I can't remember if Lily Yu's grandmother actually first appears in this book or the next one. Nevertheless! She is AWESOME.) ( )

A terrible and confusing sequel to her first book. Too bad. I just loved Lily Yu and Rule. Maybe she'll try a 3rd book in the series? ( )

I'm enjoying this series, even if this book was weaker than the first (tempting danger) The relationship between Lily and Rule progresses. The war between the female goddesses escalates and there are dragons. What more could you want? It dragged down a bit in the last third, it's very plot heavy, but you just have to love Rule, and Lily does not turn into a TSTL heroine. Unlike many fantasy romances, the fantasy aspect here is very highly worked out. Wilks clearly loves the world she's created and thinks about it alot. I'm looking forward to book 3! ( )

I've had this ever since it came out, but for various reasons I never actually started reading it - which is strange as I loved Tempting Danger and the short story Originally Human.

I loved this too. It was great to see more of Lily and Rule - and a 'soulmate' kind of relationship where they still have to work on the relationship was a nice change from the way the concept is often written.

Cullen is back and new character Cynna is a fascinating introduction. Considering she's human with a dubious past, the fact her future seems to be firmly bound to the lupi should make life interesting.

The story begins as Lily's sister's wedding - the same one her mother kept hassling her about not having a partner for in Tempting Danger - where she is attacked by a demon that attempts to possess her. The attempt fails, at least mostly, but kicks off the events of the book.

Lily and Rule are still looking from Patrick Harlowe from the last book and I was rather surprised when they found him only half way through. However, it soon became clear that Harlowe was only a minor player and once again the Aza goddess is the real enemy. She now has demon allies and Rule and Lily - or part of Lily - end up dragged into the demon realm.

This is a complicated story - and not really a romance despite it saying so on the cover - that deals with relationships, faith, identity and what it is that makes one "human".

I'm delighted to discover the next book will be published in January, so I guess there was an up side to my long delay. Now I don't have so long to wait. ( )
