I finished the Sea-Kings of Mars and Otherworldly Stories the other day. They were excellent. All the stories are in the 'planetary romance' genre - think Sword & Sorcery but the sorcery replaced by inconceivably advanced science. All her SF was written ... ... novels collections. Especially as the "stories" were often different in the fix-up novels to the original versions.
Sea-Kings of Mars, the Gollancz Fantasy Masterwork edition, is certainly a collection, although it does include several very short novels - they'd probably be considered ... ... Russ

Leigh Brackett is definitely worth a try. Her Sea-kings of Mars is an excellent collection. They don't write them like that anymore. ... M John Harrison - although, to be fair, I didn't enjoy this as much as Light. But it's still a damn fine novel.
