Plot Summary: What happens, When & Where, Central Characters, Major Conflicts

Grisham wants Peter to go on a hunt for the nukes, but before he can leave his wife and her best friend are kidnapped. Newman teams up with the Israeli security guy who is the husband of the other missing woman to try to find them. But a phone call reveals that Peter's old enemy, a Russain Ex-KGB guy, has kidnapped them to force Peter to uncover a mole in the US for him.

Style Characterisics: Pacing, clarity, structure, narrative devices, etc.
Very lengthy with lots going on and loads of details about military and security procedures. It took a while to get going but once the kidnapping happened the suspense started to really flow. There are some improbabilities, but not enough to mar this as an entertaining and suspenseful read. The behind the scenes looks at the military gadgets that Israel has and the explanation of how they would be willing to use their nuclear weapons was very illuminating.

How Good is it?
The Best part is the "Insider" details about how things work in the military, security, and political realms. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0805425519, Hardcover)

Oliver North follows his best-selling novel Mission Compromised with a suspenseful, action-packed sequel set in Israel and Iraq. Lt. Col. Peter Newman (USMC) and his family are threatened when his cover is blown. While preparing for a clandestine U.S. mission to find Iraqi nuclear weapons, Newman’s wife Rachel is kidnapped in Jerusalem—along with her friend, the wife of an Israeli Sayeret counter-terrorism operative responsible for Israeli terrorist assassinations.

Newman has to choose whether to go ahead with the mission or abandon it to find and rescue his wife. But Israel has discovered that Iraq has nukes and plans a preemptive attack on Baghdad with Jericho missiles. If that happens, and Islamic terrorists like Saddam and bin Laden respond in kind, it might trigger a Middle East war that could go global. It seems as if nothing can prevent an Armageddon.
