Erin thinks that her adopted brother, Cowper, ruins everything- especially by taking all the attention away from her with his piano playing. She's forced to spend a summer away from her hometown in a tiny apartment so that he can play the piano, and she's miserable and unwilling to even try to have fun. She befriends a medium downstairs who encourages her to try to enjoy herself by reflecting Erin's apathy back in the personality of a doll. When Cowper is almost killed, Erin realises that she does care for her brother. Her family reevaluates how it should work. ( )
