An easy, enjoyable Superman read that does not require an extensive knowledge of the character's history to be enjoyable. The only quibble is with the (once again) re-imagined death scene of Pa Kent, which has been overdone to the point of exhaustion. One nearly expects him to kick off somewhere in every comic for a hackneyed emotional jolt. ( )

I sorta like when the artist of a comic issue uses just a hint of Christopher Reeve in what that artist's Superman and Clark looks like, and in this bunch of issues Superman and Clark definitely had a hint of Reeve in them.

As for the story, it was a typical Brainiac story. Although this time Superman goes to find Brainiac after one of his probes comes to Earth. He manages to bring Brainiac back to Earth. Of course, he also finds Kandor, and makes it big against next to his fortress, and, yes, where could that go wrong?? ( )

A well-drawn Superman comic with one of his more interesting space-based villains. The character of Cat (Catherine) the gossip columnist seems to have been added just to give the artist some serious cleavage to draw. ( )

A fairly convoluted story about the return of Braniac, to finish where he left off in his quest to collect knowledge and cities. Some interesting sidebar bits with Steve Lombard and Cat Grant (haven't seen them in a long time), and Supergirl makes a welcome appearance, but really, this is an illogical mess of a story, and Braniac is portrayed as more of a psychopath than an emotionless computer organism.
