I have no idea how many times I have read each of these - probably at least ten times ... ... Huxtable series so far has tanked for me. I find myself comparing them to my favorite Balogh books, One Night For Love, Slightly Married and especially Slightly Dangerous. They don't, compare that is.

I think that what made Slightly Married so good was the subtlety and complexity of the characters' personalities and relationships. Not just the main characters, but all the minor characters too. They were all very well-rounded and very convincing, and very different from one another.

CC CC, I had not thought to compare Aidan from Slightly Married to Neville in One Night for Love. Now that you mentioned it I can see the comparison. I agree that Aidan is more remote but they are both men of honor and caring.
Balogh certainly can write wonderful romances. ... a year. It is an exquisitely written, gorgeous love story. I think that book is also one of the reasons why I also love Slightly Married. Aiden is another superb hero, and he and Neville remind me of each other, even though Aiden is more distant, emotionally.

Thanks. I already read Slightly Married and Slightly Wicked in order. I had not realized that A Summer to Remember was the earliest book (actually I think One Night For Love is really the first but I had already read that one) so I went back, read A Summer to Remember and then ... ... Summer to Remember and mentioned that you were going to start Slightly Scandalous next. Just thought I let you know that Slightly Married is the next one in the series. There is a website called Fantastic Fiction which tells you which order the books come. Hope that helps. I think you might like the Bedwyn series, starting with Slightly Married by Mary Balogh as well. You meet some of the characters in A Summer to Remember.
I also always liked Catherine Cookson and Susan Howatch. They are older books but you can find them. Nice stories where the ... "None whatsoever."

I just reread Mary Balogh's Slightly Married. I do like that series. Now I am back to finishing A Most Unsuitable Groom by Kasey Michaels. I am about half way through so should finish it in a few days. Next up is Delicious by Sherry Thomas.

Natura ... ... read 46 books in January. I did not give any first-read books a superb rating, but did give a superb to several re-reads, Slightly Married, Slightly Dangerous, One Night For Love, all by Mary Balogh, and Someone To Watch Over Me by Lisa Kleypas.
I gave two new releases an ... I just finished Slightly Married and thought it was very good. I think it is safe to say that Mary Balogh is rapidly becoming a favorite author. Her books are wonderfully written and the depth of the characters is really impressive. I also really like that the Bedwyn men are all not-quite-p ... ... and I keep wondering if they will get their own stories...
I can't wait to start the Bedwyn family series now. I have Slightly Married all ready to go, but I have to work tonight so I probably won't get to start on it till tomorrow (*sigh). ... made for a gripping story, as good as A Reason To Live.

Mary Balogh is on my automatic order list, and I'm trying to find her earliest books. Her first Slightly Married and last Slightly Dangerous Bedwyn books are my favorites, Slightly Married is way up at the top of my "would grab in case of fire" list.

RL, I recommend Mary Balogh's Slightly Married, the first in the Bedwyn family series, or A Summer to Remember, which introduced connected characters, but can be read as stand-alones. These are both historicals, English Regency time ... ... disappointed it didn't delve deeper into his pain and the heroine's pain, but still pretty good. It wasn't up there with Slightly Married or Slightly Dangerous, my favorite of the Bedwyn books, though.
