As always Howard brings depth and emotion in spades. Definitely worth reading, especially for long-time Howard fans. ( ) This is like the Linda Howard I first started reading in my early teens, before she started adding the mystery/thriller part to her books. It's a comfortable romance, similar to some of the other ones she wrote at the same time. Against the Rules, Heartbreaker and Almost Forever come to mind. This is a good quick summer read. Cord Blackstone came back to Mississippi with revenge on his mind. He's out to grind the rest of the Blackstone family into the dirt, and he doesn't care who he has to hurt to do it. Susan Blackstone may have married in to the family, but her loyalty runs bone deep. With her husband dead, she's taken on running a good share of the Blackstone family industry. Alone since her husband's death, she finds Cord strangely compelling. But even love isn't enough to make her betray the family she's found... trapped, Susan does the only thing she can... Of course the ending is a foregone conclusion, but it's worth taking the trip. no reviews | add a review
