This one's definitely pretty good as well, definitely better than the first because now that she is getting her sixth sense, it's interesting to read about how she embraces it and learns how to use it and what to do. ( )

Now that Kendalls' gone through her awakening and saved her father from a ghost, she and her friends have been working all over town. Not everyone is happy about Kendall's newfound abilities.

First, her mother still doesn't believe her daughter's a psychic, and she's made Kendall promise to be tested. Kendall and her mom travel to Atlanta to meet with an open-minded doctor. They talk about her awakening and finally run mental and medical tests.

Courtney, the queen bee at school, hates all the attention people are giving Kendall. Plus, she hates that Kendall is dating her ex-boyfriend. She comes up with a plan to shift the attention back on to herself: she fakes her own awakening.

However, Courtney doesn't understand the rules and she's playing a very dangerous game. When a seance turns into something more, Kendall knows she has to step in and save Courtney if she can. The ghost oppressing Courtney is more vicious than any spirit she's ever encountered. She's not sure if she's strong enough to handle him.

The second book in the once trilogy, but now at least five book GHOST HUNTRESS series, picks up a couple of months after the first book, THE AWAKENING, ends. It continues the fun, danger, and romance of ghost hunting.

The ending left me with goosebumps and I can't wait to devour the next book in the series. ( )

"Ghost Huntress: The Guidance" was an improvement over the first volume "Ghost Huntress: The Awakening". I rated the first book three stars and if I could I would give this one 3 ½. Its not a four star book by any stretch of the imagination and so I will have to give it a three star review also. This story picks up shortly after the events in the first book. Kendall and her motley crew of ghost hunters have gained some local celebrity for their ghostly encounters. Now they are keeping busy solving ghost mysteries and coping with nasty classmate Courtney. Courtney feels threatened by Kendall's popularity and is mad Kendall is dating her ex boyfriend Jason. Courtney decides to get back at Kendall by acting like she is also a psychic. All this does is put her in danger. A malicious ghost is following Kendall around and she knows they have to figure out what is going on before something really bad happens. There are a couple of side plots, including some supernatural drama with friend Becca, and Kendall's mom trying to cope with Kendall's gift. "The Guidance" isn't a bad book. My 13 year old daughter liked both books but they aren't among her favorite either. There is nothing in the books to have to monitor. No noticeable foul language or sex beyond some kissing. The name brand mentions have decreased here too which is good because there were way too many in the first book and that really dates a story later down the line. The ghostly encounters are definitely the most enjoyable parts of the book and they were stronger here than in the first book. There is something less than satisfying about Marley Gibson's writing style. Certain young adult books are so well written that you'd never find them less enjoyable than a similarly themed adult book. This series can't claim that distinction. Overall this is an okay book. It is worth reading but it is not a standout. I don't think its worth paying over $10.00 to read. ( )

Kendall Moorehead, a Chicago transplant, is still coming to terms with living in the small southern town of Radisson, Georgia.

And her psychic abilities.

In this second book of the Ghost Huntress series by Marley Gibson, Kendall will have her "gifts" put to the test; plus some she's not even ready to explore!

Kendall's classmate and arch nemesis, Courtney Langdon, can't stand the attention Kendall's receiving for being "gifted."

Not to mention, she's jealous that Kendall is now dating her ex-boyfriend Jason Tillson.

In an attempt to draw attention from Kendall, Courtney decides to dabble in the psychic world; unfortunately, she doesn't know that she's actually opening similar to Pandora's Box.

Will Kendall and her ghost hunting team help the popular cheerleader or leave her to own device?

The decision isn't an easy one, but Kendall's spirit guide Emily is there to help her, as well as her team, her priest, and her mentor.

But making the decision is the easy part; following through will entail much more than Kendall could have ever imagined.

The references to actual ghost-hunting equipment and techniques makes these awesome books! (Especially the bibliography in the back that provides links for more information.)

It may seem a bit crazy that a 35-year-old woman is reading Young Adult Fiction, but I love the Ghost Huntress series! Once I start one, I find myself so engrossed that I can easily read the 300 page (average) books within a couple of days.

The only thing I'm not too fond of is the use of such colorful language. I'm by no means foolish when it comes to teen language - I was once and I have two teen boys - but I think the book would be just as interesting without it.

With the sexual content of this book and the language, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone less than high school age. ( )
