When Mitch Cassidy returns from Afghanistan he is missing part of a leg and the heart he lost when Skye Titan chose to marry another while he was away. But as he physically heals, Mitch learns more about the choice Skye had to make and somehow must find the strength to forgive both himself and Skye. A slightly rushed feeling to it, and characters that were slightly stocky, but otherwise a decent read. ( )What a great story line. Would reccomend reading all the books int he series. 3 1/2 stars - 4 stars The second in the Lone Star Sisters series. This is most definitely a middle book. I recommend reading the first one Under Her Skin Lone Star Sisters 1 before picking this one up. Although the romance is stand-alone, the back story of the Titan family is explained in the first book. Some of it is recapped in this book, but not enough to be stand-alone. Mitch Cassidy was Skye Titan's first love. She broke his heart nine years ago when she caved to her father's wishes and married another man. He ran off and joined the Navy. Now he is back minus one leg and even more angry than when he left. Skye has never forgotten Mitch and his return has her in turmoil. She doesn't know what to feel. She knows how much she hurt him, but that doesn't keep her from wanting to be with him. She also knows it can never be because of their past and her father. The first half of the book didn't really do it for me. I didn't really like Skye. She seemed a little too much of a pushover and a bit of a weak character. About two-thirds through the book, I started to like her more. Then, she did something that I thought was just stupid. It didn't make any sense. Luckily, it didn't last long. Thank goodness--it was one of those things that makes me hope for the heroine to NOT get a happy ending. The book ends just the way an episode of a mini-series would end. You know it isn't over yet and will have to see the next one to know what is going to happen next. I already have the next book and just started it...there are still 2 more after this one for a total of 4 books in the whole series, so the family saga is only halfway over. no reviews | add a review
