"Polly & Her Pals" is one of my favorite strips, and one of the five best in comic strip history. In visual delights and surrealistic art, it ranks with "Krazy Kat", and yet is about the everyday experiences of a "normal" family. And yet Sterrett does not just bring his gorgeous graphics to the table. "Polly..." is one of the funniest and most well-plotted strips ever, with a 1920's sensibility and humor unique to the period, but which holds up equally well today. It is amazing to me that this wonderful strip has been so nearly completely forgotten. This book of full-page, beautifully-reproduced color Sunday strips does much to redress that injustice. ( )
