Not exactly the heir to Ramona Quimby, as sometimes Amber has real dark feelings inside, and sometimes she shares them. I don't clearly remember every story so I'm copying this review to each book. ( )

I thought this was a great book. It kind of reminded me of a more modern Beverly Cleary Ramona book. Amber is about the same age - 4th grade and the book takes place both at school and home. It talks about the trials and tribulations of Amber's life. This is more modern because Amber's parents are divorced and her mom is about to get remarried. She has problems dealing with this and the fact that they have to move into a new house and she's not sure where it's going to be. She gets upset when her dad goes on a date instead of hanging out wit her. She's upset that her mom and Max don't give her more input on where they are going to live and would consider taking her out of her school and away from her friends. I think the author, like Beverly Cleary, captures a lot of common problems that kids have and makes it into an entertaining story that can help kids deal with some of their own problems. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0439071712, Mass Market Paperback)

Best-selling and critically acclaimed author, Paula Danziger, is back with the latest title in the best-selling, amazingly popular series about the irresistible Amber Brown!

Amber Brown's parents just aren't acting the way she thinks parents should. Sometimes Amber's dad goes out on dates when he is supposed to be spending time with her. And her Mom went to Disneyland with Aunt Pam while Amber was with her dad (not fair!). Then Mom and Max decide to get married even sooner and move to a new house--maybe even a new town!
Some kids have parents who stay together. Some kids don't have to think about moving away from their school and all their friends. Some kids seem to have no problems--& that makes Amber Brown green with envy.
