Fiction. Romance. Suspense. Historical Fiction. HTML:In a less than sober moment, Londonâ??s two most notorious rakesâ??the Earl of Manderville and the Duke of Rothayâ??placed a very public wager on which of them is the superior lover. Now itâ??s too late to retract the foolish bet, but what woman of beauty, intelligence, and discernment, would consent to bed both men and declare which is more skilled in satisfying her deepest desires?

Lady Carolyn Wynn is the last woman anyone would expect to step forward. Sheâ??s a respectable young widow with an icy reputation, which has kept her firmly off the marriage market. She may not desire another husband, but her brief marriage has left her with some scandalous questions about the act of love.

If the men will keep her identity a secret, sheâ??ll decide who has the most finesse between the sheets. But to everyoneâ??s surprise, what begins as an indelicate proposition turns into a most astonishing lesson

I loved this so much that I re-read the ending about 4 times. Caroline accepts the challenge because her life needs a change. I can identify with this. The rakes turn out to be good guys (& that is always good). I will look for more of her books. ( )

Emma Wilde's historical romances are better than any of the other few I've read because her plots are more interesting, as are her main characters. Unfortunately, her secondary character development tends to fall a little by the wayside. Perhaps she shouldn't write two romances into each story? Regardless of that, her stories make for a good travel/afternoon/beach read. I like her work enough to actually keep her books, which is better than I can say for any other historical romance author. Epigraph
Dedication
For Chris, for all the times you have taken the trouble to not disturb me at my desk. Flowers are romantic, a bottle of wine is nice, but that is the definition of thoughtful. So, you see, I did notice.
First words
The horses thundered down the stretch amid the roars of the crowd and moments later Nicholas Manning, the sixth Duke of Rothay, won again wit hhis spectacular black.
