Ex High School English teacher and current policeman, the author puts together all he learned from both professions to come up with a series of verbal arguments to use in incidents of high tension. Suggests practice so that his method is second nature for quick thinking. (

Verbal Judo is at times repetitive, and very police-oriented, but I like its emphasis on mental preparation as a way of life (inner balance), like in real judo. It's not just about a bag of catch-phrases, although it does give some examples. The book uses storytelling well to engage the reader and illustrate points. (
