Delaney is determined to sacrifice his life in order to destroy the Elixir, but he's firestorm starts and as he tries to do his duty to create another Pyr, Ginger gives him a lot more to think about. Some of the self sacrifice comes across as pity party.

Well mouth's went dry eleven times! But I read the excerpt for the next book and there is already a dry mouth so I know the next one will be just as good!I liked the story line in this one, but it almost seemed the writing was a little rushed. I caught quite a few discrepencies like for example: Niall was holding Ginger in his claw while fighting slayers, but tossed her to Eric. Eric caught her, and was holding her but she said something to Niall, when it should have been Eric, because after answering her, Eric set her down! So little things like that annoyed me,because it his her fourth book in the series and I feel like she should pay more attention to her writing. All in all, I really did like the story line and it was a good book! ( )

On a suicide mission to destroy the Dragon's Blood Elixir, Delaney encounters his firestorm when he meets Ginger Sinclair. (A firestorm only happens when a Pyr - a dragon shapeshifter - meets his destined mate, the only woman he can have a child with.) In order to fulfill his duty to his people, he detours from his main task and tries to get Ginger pregnant - and when Ginger finds out his intent, sparks really do fly.

A lot of secrets are revealed in this book that I don't want to spoil for anyone. If you haven't read anything in this series yet, you'll really get more out of this if you go back and start with the first book. (Which isn't great, and the second is seriously geographically challenged, but these have gotten better over time.)

Overall, the characters are enjoyable and comprehensible (except for Ginger on pp. 45-65 - a lazy attempt to move the plot along that made her seem like a moron. Fortunately, she redeemed herself later in the novel.) The romantic relationship between Ginger and Delaney grew over time, and it was nice to have characters from the previous books integrated so solidly in the story.

All in all, it was an enjoyable "popcorn" read. ( )
