I've read Girl in Landscape, Motherless Brooklyn, and Fortress of Solitude. Motherless and Fortress are more mainstream than anything else he has written, but he definitely jumps in and out of genre, a bit like Chabon and Saunders in that respect. Hope I'm here for next year's con.

Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem

I finished Motherless Brooklyn, which was great as an audiobook because the main character has Tourette's Syndrome. I started Agnes Grey, by the only Bronte sister I haven't read. I'm also finsihing up Something Wicked This Way Comes. It's been a good reading week.

Am listening to Motherless Brooklyn as done by Frank Muller (Recorded Books) and his reading cracks me up. He "does" Lionel perfectly - the verbal ticks are a riot. Although I'm probably laughing where I shouldn't be. Can't be helped.

This morning I started Motherless Brooklyn as narrated by Frank Muller. The way he has altered his voice and speech patterns to fit the character's Tourette's disorder is truly exceptional. He made me laugh out loud a couple of times. I have a feeling this is going to be a good one.

... that big "gimmicky" whole with the old "avenging the death of a partner" cliche. Not arguing against your opinion of Motherless Brooklyn, mind you, although I don't agree. I just really dislike the "gimmick" argument when it comes to entertainment criticism.
