Under the Dome by Stephen King
This is the first new SK book I've read in years ( I read The Long Walk and The Running Man but they were reprints from his very early years). I'm pleasently surprized that I'm enjoying it.
454 pages down and 618 to go. 39 The Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz. The account of how Rawicz and six companions trekked from Siberia to India crossing the Gobi and the Himalaya on the way. There are numerous instances of bravery and sacrifice, of how the group's survival rested on their own ingenuity and on the kindness of ... ... in "Psych". Still like "Law ond Order"
Don't care for the "Reality" shows they remind me too much of Stephen Kings The Long Walk or The Running Man. (I enjoyed the books), but I find t.v. reality shows getting to close to life "imitating art".
My Kids gave me a years worth of NetFlix ... I loved The Pluto Files - very funny. and I loved The Long Walk too! My wife is in the 999 group, but I think 75 is a better fit for me.

So far I've read The Hiding Place, Man's Search for Meaning, and The Long Walk, which is more about WWII in general, and not really about Jewish themes. I also read Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman. Although Feynman wasn't a practicing Jew, ... Just catching up on your reading and #147 The Long Walk sounds really interesting as does The Hiding Place. They've both gone on my tbr list. LOL at your comments on How to be a Domestic Goddess - I've made few of the recipes.
... category for my next 999, but I read Founding Mothers this time around and now I'm reading John Adams. Oh, and I read The Long Walk, set during WWII. That was super good. Review of The Long Walk
Slavomir Rawicz was a Polish cavalry officer in World War II. He came home on leave and found himself arrested by the Russians for the crime of, well, being Polish. He was kept in prison, but refused to confess. After a few months, he was tricked into signing a ... I've got tons going right now. The Long Walk, Africa Explored, The Changeling Sea, Jesus the Christ - Talmage, and two audiobooks, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman for in the car and These is my Words in the house. And you might want to try and pick of a copy of Different Seasons, as it contains Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, one of my favorite non-thriller King stories.
>6 Have you seen the ... I have to get my frozen-ass suggestions in! An obvious one is The Shipping News. Less obvious is a book called The Long Walk about some escapees from a Russian labor camp who attempted to cross Siberia to freedom. Excellent read! For my 2008 888 Challenge, I over-planned and underachived. For 2009, I am giving myself a break and making it easier and more flexible. If I really do no overlaps (no guarantee on that), this will be 81 books, which is pretty much my maximum for a year. Between work, life, and my natural ... ... describe winter really well.
