Awesome book! It's been awhile since I've read Sandra Brown, but I need to pick up a couple more of her books. This one was really really good!

First of all, I read this book in one sitting. Couldn't put it down! It wasn't exactly what I would call a fast read, because I really had to pay attention to what was going on and couldn't skim over sections that didn't seem relevant. It was ALL relevant in this one! It's actually a book that I could read again just to see if I missed any details along the way.

There were defiantly a couple of twists throughout and once the crime was solved there were several more pages to wrap up and wind down the story. I really liked that about this book. I don't like it when the end seems abrupt, and this one wasn't. It was perfectly completed and closed out. It didn't leave any unresolved issues for me.

Julie and Derek are interesting characters. Their introduction to the reader is surprising but a great lead in to what these two are going to be going through. I was a little frustrated with the sexual tension between the two, but it works itself out later in the book which made me change my mind about that feeling.

Overall, this is highly recommended. Great suspense and a little smut! If you like to guess how a book is going to end throughout the whole thing...this is your next novel! ( )

Good mystery. Intense. Not the best, but kept me interested ( )

A real suspense thriller with one of the nastiest villains to ever kill small animals as a child - made me check my door locks and hunker a little lower in my chair. Brown throws in the usual steamy romance and strong characterization to create a thrill-a-minute ride that keeps you turning pages right to the end. ( )

Lots of plot twists and turns kept me reading till the end. OK, so maybe I peeked, but then I read through to the end. Who shot Paul? The girlfriend with him? The heir to his fortune? A disgruntled employee? And just whose side is Derek Mitchell on? Is he as slimy of a lawyer as his reputation claims him to be? Awesome story. Great characters! ( )

What with fifty million books sold, and the Fates and the search engines solidly in her corner, I don’t feel terrible advising against reading this book. There’ll be plenty of time in the End Times for books just like it.

Boil down "Smash Cut" to its essence, and it's an enjoyable and very sexy thriller.

"Smash Cut" deserves to be this summer's blockbuster thriller.

Smash Cut boasts all the page-turning propulsion of Brown's other books, but in terms of character and story line, it's not one of her best. The strongest scenes are the unabashedly erotic interludes between Derek and Julie; Brown would have been better off making this a pure romance without the illusion of thrills.

Cleverly creepy!
