Evidence That Demands a Verdict is an extremely well researched and convincing defence of Christian belief.

The historical evidences are overwhelming and irrefutable. Many sceptics have made detailed examination of the historical background and foundational beliefs of the Christian faith only to be confounded by the startling evidence they have uncovered, this book reveals.

From the confirmation of the historical text of the Bible in relation to all other historical texts, from archaeological support of prophetical utterances through to the historical proofs of the existence of Jesus Christ as an historical personage, his death, burial and most convincing of all, the proofs relating to his resurrection, this book examines them all.

The Christian faith is based on the resurrection of Christ and it is a historically verifiable fact, attested to by reliable witnesses many of whom were killed for proclaiming it, this book reveals.

I found the evidences set forth in this book to be compelling and convincing. Each section of the book contains an extensive bibliography of ancient and modern texts in support of the contentions made. Each text is cross-referenced within the body of the book. The scholarship is not only impeccable, it is intelligent, solid and provides an unshakable foundation for life and faith.

My Recommendation :

Cons:

The bibliography is so extensive it would require another lifetime to read all the books listed!

Pros:

A worthwhile study of the Christian evidences, especially of the resurrection of Christ.
Highly recommended. ( )

The book that first got me interested in apologetics. It still remains a classic work on the 'evidentialist' approach to apologetics. Its weakness--as with all such systems--is the lack of discussion on the PHILOSOPHY of evidences, or the role of presuppositions in interpreting the evidence. ( )
