Australian gnomes

Puts one in mind of Huygen & Poortvliet 1976 Gnomes or Froud & Lee's 1978 Faeries book. Same idea and format except, obviously this is set in Australia.
If you like the aforementioned books or are a fan of Ingpen's art (as I am), you will be well satisfied with this 1979 edition. ( )

Australian gnomes is a whimsical illustrated collection of basically that, the lives of the Australian gnome. There were a few other coffee table books like this floating around at the time, so this got in at the right time, I suppose. Ok if you like that sort of a thing, and somewhat amusing.
