... is worth the read. ktleyed, I thought Welcome to Temptation was just OK. However, give Crusie another chance and read Bet Me. I think you might like it.

Crazy for You was hilarious! I love Crusie, she's one of my favorite authors. Bet Me is one of my favorites, along with Welcome to Temptation, but pretty much all of hers are golden, IMO.

... to two children. I thought the way her insecurities were portrayed were very realistic. One of my favorite romances is Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie, which features a curvy heroine.

... all finished! Jennifer Crusie just did an author visit in Dayton where I got to meet her. I thanked her for writing Bet Me which helped me through some image issues I was having with myself. She's an incredible woman and so nice to meet in person. I really hope you enjoy manhunting too. ...

janmpb in BookMooching : Chick-Lit? (Apr 13, 2009, 7:56pm)

Bet me by Jennifer Crusie was also good but Welcome to Temptation was my favorite of hers that I've read. How could I have forgotten Janet Evanovich books! I think they may be "chick lit". I loved them all, but the Stephanie Plum series are the best, beginning with One for the Money, T ...

I just finished Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie and loved it. I am listening to Vengeance in Death by J.D. Robb and have not decided what to read next, probably something non-fiction.

Hey Guys, I just read Bet Me and I have to agree that it was way better than Fast Women. I could not put it down. Thanks for turning me on to her books.

... of spoiled it for me. Still, most of Crusie's books that I've read have been great and I would highly recommend reading Bet Me to anyone. CC's right - it really is fantastic. Characters: As I said, I didn't really like the main couple. And like some others have said, it really ...

... was a lot of sleeping around. But only in the beginning. Anyway, it was my first Crusie book and I liked it. I have Bet Me in my hot little hands right now and am looking forward to reading it. How about a historical for April?

... it much the second time around, but that's what happened with this book. I am a huge Jennifer Cruisie fan (I still think Bet Me will stand the test of time forever) and it pains me to have to say so, but this one irked and annoyed me. I didn't like the hero sleeping with his ex-wife when ...

Then there is always some pablum, if that's what you feel like reading: Try Fast Women by Jennifer Crusie, of Holly Would Dream by Karen Quinn.

... doesn't have the strong romantic theme that was in this book. I guess I saw this as kind of a cross between the two. Bet Me is the one Jennifer Crusie book I have on my wishlist. I might have to bump it up a bit :-)

... was my favorite MacCarrick Brothers book. I am now reading Rapture In Death by J.D. Robb. Next up is Fast Women by Jennifer Cruise for our monthly book discussion. Hope your package arrives soon emmie.

9, 10, 11> My favorite Crusie is Bet Me, as well, but Faking It - the sort-of sequel to Welcome to Temptation - is pretty fun too. I love the con man Davy Dempsey, and the story line is just so much fun! I have been slogging through the Outlander series for the last 4 months or so. I ...

CC - Thanks for the suggestions! Bet Me is definitely my favorite Crusie also. Crazy for You was another one I really enjoyed. I like to read Crusie when I'm "between books" and I'm looking for a fun read. I have Fast Women on my TBR pile, but haven't read it yet. I recently read and ...

Katy, my favorite Cruisie books are Bet Me (the best!), Charlie All Night, Manhunting and Welcome To Temptation, in that order.

... Manhunting by Jennifer Crusie. It was just the light-hearted read I needed! I don't think it was nearly as good as Bet Me or Crazy for You, but it was still enjoyable. I haven't read a Crusie yet I haven't liked pretty well. Now I'm ready to go ahead and start Not Quite a Lady.

... Crusie - lots of folks here had recommended her, but I'd never read her, so that was a great 2008 find for me. I read Bet Me first, then had to go read all her others - unfortunately, Bet Me, the acknowledged fan favorite, really is the best, so it was all down hill from there. Good reads, ...

I mix in "fluff" reads as I go. I just finished my first chick-lit, Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie. Fun.

I just finished Sizzle and Burn. I liked it a lot, much better than White Lies! It restored my faith in JAK. Bet Me, a recommendation I got here, was really good! Thoroughly enjoyable. I started an old Susan Carroll called Mistress Mischief. I am enjoying it so far!

CC, I just finished Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie. You were absolutely right! What a great book! Thanks for the recommendation! I am now a Crusie fan. I just checked out Never Lie to a Lady by Liz Carlyle. It is reading them out of sequence, but I really enjoyed the duke one...

I enjoyed Never Deceive a Duke. I am re-reading The Foundling by Georgette Heyer. I picked up Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie from the library tonight and will read it next!

... for the last one November 1! I just finished Charlie All Night by Jennifer Crusie. I really enjoyed it. I have Bet Me waiting at the library and I will pick it up this afternoon. Thanks for the tips!

I also think Bet Me is the best Jennifer Crusie, but I have yet to read a bad book by her and think I have read most of them (though not the two she collaborated on with Bob Mayer: Don't Look Down and Agnes and the Hitman). She is one of the few authors who can take a plot device I ...

Xor, I think Bet Me is Crusie's best, but Charlie All Night, Welcome to Temptation, Manhunting, Fast Women, Faking It are all great. I didn't like the collaborative novel she did with Bob Something-or-other, forget the title, but it had a beagle on the cover. CC

97. Bet Me - Jennifer Crusie If you were being pursued by a man (the kind of which never chases slightly overweight actuaries), and you knew it was only because he’d made a bet with your ex…would you touch him with a 39 1/2 foot pole? Neither would Minerva “Min” Dobbs. At least ...

... contemporary romance either (outside of fantasy/romance) but I can concur with Julia: I recently read Jennifer Crusie's Bet Me and LOVED it. Haven't read any of her other stuff, but after trying that one, I'm definitely going to be reading more from that author! I'm also curious what all ...

Guess I'll have to put Bet Me on my list of books to request from the library!! I started Jamie by Lori Foster last night. Only a couple chapters in but I'm liking it so far.

Read Bet Me. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. CC, et. al. - Yep, I'm totally going to glom all the Crusie I can get my hands on now!

Got me interested in Bet Me too, so when I was returning a book to the library today (well, two, but one I meant to renew, not return, damnfool that I am. I had to reserve it again when I realized it.) I looked for it and found it on the shelves. I read straight through; it's one of the ...

Katybear, my sister relaxes with presidential biographies. I got her to read Bet Me it opened up a whole new world. I think you will like it.

Yall are killing me with curiosity with this Bet Me stuff! I've never read an Crusie, but I'm putting it on reserve for me at the library as we speak! :D

Richard, Bet Me is also my favorite Jennifer Crusie book, followed closely by Charlie All Night or Crazy For You. Have you read either of those? Callady, that was my favorite line as well. And for weeks after I read it the first time, I was obsessed with Chicken Marsala. Book, ...

I think Bet Me was my favourite Crusie read, it was the first of her books I tried, and nothing quite matched how much I liked that read - fun very fun. LOL

I found Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie at my public library and read it last night. It was great. This review from Amazon.com says it very well: "Bet Me is unabashedly, irrepressibly romantic. In the wacky, wonderful world of Min and Cal, author Jennifer Crusie leaves no humorous situation ...

katybear- you HAVE to read Bet Me, it's fabulous. It has some great lines. For fun, try Janet Evanovich's Plum series. The heroine eats many, many donuts. Romance actually takes a back seat to the donuts :) A Lady's Pleasure has heroine that's called "whey-faced". Like storee said the ...

... sized, period. You don't see anybody referred to as minus-sized. One of my all-time favorite heroines is Min from Bet Me, a gorgeous big, beautiful woman whose tall, dark and handsome man is crazy about all of her. She even gets to eat chicken marsala over and over again in the book! ...

My husband and I are listening to Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie right now. He didn't think he'd enjoy it, but he is! I think this one is a better audiobook than it is a print book. It had too much dialogue for me to be thrilled with the print version, but with a good narrator, it makes a fun ...

Well, I'll definitely have to get London, too. Thanks! Rich, I don't think I could pick a "very favorite" Crusie, but Bet Me comes pretty close. I hope you will try Susan Elizabeth Phillips Bonner Family/Chicago Stars series, too (mentioned on another thread somewhere). I think you would ...

I wanted to add that I, like CC, like the 'flawed, in need of affection hero' but I also add HOT. A hero can never be TOO hot. Right? Right. I also like a heroine who is spunky, smart, and talented. And ya know, not always so perfectly nice all the time. I'm having a hard time picking those ...
