Investigative reporter Magdalena "Mad Max" Riley finds missing people even when they don't want to be found. When she finds a missing billionaire and brings him back to his home, he commits suicide. His 12-year-old son, Alex, believes his father was murdered. Then Alex goes missing. Now Max must find Alex, but she will have to deal with the others who are looking for him as well--a fellow reporter, a private investigator, and an assassin.

This was an action-packed story laced with humor and it had likable enough characters, but for some reason I felt detached from the story and never really invested in the characters. The story did feature a very strong heroine capable of taking care of herself in tough situations. There was very little romance in this one (if any). Max had two men interested in her which mostly consisted of some flirtation going on, more so than any one big romance. This was just an okay, at best, read for me. ( )

This is a fun read, full of fast action, unexpected plot twists, and strong female characters. There is enough romance to be teasing but not overpowering, and the protagonist has a deep history and personal fears that she must conquer—if she doesn’t, everyone will die! Recommended for twisty action fans. ( )
