I am reading A Year in the World by Frances Mayes...lacks the magic of Under the Tuscan Sun, but I love her focus on art, literature, food in this book.

Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes I picked this up for fifty cents at a sale. Very boring reading. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you like long descriptions of everything they ate and of everything they did to restore the old house they bought and of everything…well, you ...

... it on my next library trip for a funny, easy read. It's written by a tour guide based in Siena, written as an antidote to Under the Tuscan Sun. OK, I'm definitely looking for that one. I read Under the Tuscan Sun and liked bits of it, mostly the bits without her and the wondrous renovations, but was too nauseated to read Bella Tuscany. 60 Under the Tuscan sun Frances Mayes First off this is *nothing* like the movie. I think I gained 5lbs while reading it, lots of descriptions of foods. The prose is lovely, but I found I had to take breaks and even started another book (which I never do).

Found some great deals today: Under the Tuscan Sun by Mayes, which I've been meaning to get for awhile. Imagined London by Anna Quindlen. I'll read anything this lady writes. The Widow of the South by Robert Hicks. I love Civil War stories - who knows why, really. I just do.

... ;-) ------------- I've spent quite a bit of time in Tuscany, and my husband is Italian, and all I have to say is that Under the Tuscan Sun is *definitely* fiction. Personally, I'd classify it as fantasy. (I know the author presents it as biography, but she is delusional).

The Schedule calls for work to begin the following Monday. Under the Tuscan Sun

I'm in the beautiful Tuscan countryside with Frances Mayes in Under the Tuscan Sun. Even if the book wasn't fictional the movie was. ;-)

#89, Cheryl - I found that Under the Tuscan Sun just got to be too much after a while. I liked the subject matter but, the writing style eventually defeated me. I just skimmed the last fifty pages or so.

I've started reading Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes. I'm not too far into it, but so far I'm kinda iffy about it. The subject matter is interesting, but I'm not too fond of how she uses short, choppy sentences.
