James Patterson's already simplistic style is even more simple since this is aimed at teens. The change to a dystopia happens incredibly quickly. The main villain is the One Who is the One. The others are given titles the One Who and than their job. ( )

This was a revisit for me. Didn't hold the same appeal second time around as it did the first time though. ( )

This book felt rushed, and the slang was weird. I couldn't decide if it (the slang) was supposed to be part of the story, or if the authors were completely out of touch with teenagers. ( )

Epigraph
I believe in aristocracy...Not an aristocracy of power, based upon rank and influence, but an aristocracy of the sensitive, the considerate and the plucky. Its members are to be found in all nations and classes, and all through the ages, and there is a secret understanding between them when they meet. They represent the true human tradition, the one permanent victory of our queer race over cruelty and chaos.
--E.M. Forster, from Two Cheers for Democracy
