This book is an example of Fantasy because the squirrels talk and interact with each other. We know that this does not happen in real life. This book is a chapter book divided by story. The illustrations are fun. The media used is pen and wash. Gussie is a round character in that we see many sides of her. The author tells the story in third person. He shows us Gussie when she is excited, anticipating her friend's visit, frustrated, determined and relieved. Each story tells of an adventure the two friends have together. A perfect beginning chapter book.
