A single mother is isolated in a spooky house.

It's weird that I don't remember any talk about this movie when it came out. It's definitely the kind of movie you talk about. I had somehow gone all these years just thinking it was a generic haunted house movie - did not know what I was missing.

A devoutly religious mother of two ailing children has moved with her family to a mansion on the English coast. Her two children both suffer from a rare photosensitivity disease that renders them extremely vulnerable to sunlight, prompting the rule of having only one door open in the house at a time.
