First edition signed fine Synopsis: Katherine Rule is an analysist for the CIA covering the Soviet Desk. She finds a disparate group of facts that lead her to believe that Russia is getting ready to invade Sweden. She is dating Will Lee, an aid for the senator for Georgia. He and she seem to be developing a relationship. Review: Had to laugh about the 'powerful' computer had megabytes. Treatment of Katherine as a young woman in a powerful role was very realistic. This is a great 1980s Soviet era thriller that pits CIA analyst Katherine Rule versus the Soviets and the CIA. Will Lee plays a small part and one wonders why he's even in the book? The Soviets are bad guys, ain't it always so? We get to like one or two of them. It was a fun read and I'm still looking for some involvement for the named player--Will Lee. Where's book #4? Having been introduced to Stuart Woods through his Stone Barrington series, I was very impressed by this earlier work, the first in the Will Lee series. This bbok was intensively research, and Woods travelled to Europe to visit the seetings for this novel. Strongly recommended, either stand alone or as part of a larger Woods feast. no reviews | add a review

Mystery.
Sifting through reams of seemingly unrelated intelligence, CIA analyst Katherine Rule discovers a chilling pattern: an ultrasecret Baltic submarine base...a crafty Russian spy-master in command...a carefully planned invasion about to be launched from dark waters. Her suspicions, however, are dismissed by those higher up; her theory, they say, is too crazy to be true. But to Katherine, it''s just crazy enough to succeed - unless she can stop it. If she''s right, an attack sub has already penetrated friendly waters. Worse yet, the enemy has penetrated deep into her own life, so deep she can touch him. And in this game, one wrong touch can mean Armageddon. No library descriptions found. |
