This was OK. I really liked the bantering between the boys - he certainly has an ear for boy conversation. ( )

This is a coming of age story dealing with friendship, romance, loss and maturity. While I quite enjoyed it, this book is aimed specifically at teenage boys and their issues. In the first couple of chapters I found Marc, the 16 year old protagonist, rather irritating, but gradually I grew quite fond of him, and his friends, as they grapple with all that life throws at them. Really enjoyed Metzenthen's take on the teen male story. Some elements similar to Salinger's 'The Catcher in the Rye' at least superficially. Unlike Titus in M.T.Anderson's 'Feed', Metzenthen's focalising character, Marc. E. Jarvis undergoes a journey of self discovery and the people around him. A great contemporary, Aussie read. ( )

This book is about a guy called Jarvis. He lives in Australia. He does work experience for a week and meets a girl called Electra. They fall in love. ( )
