Loading... Private Wars (Queen and Country) (2005)by Greg Rucka
None. Another very strong entry in the Queen & Country series. While the overall story was a bit less engaging than A Gentleman's Game, the additional depth in characterization was more than sufficient to make up for any "loss". I certainly home Rucka returns to Tara Chace sometime soon. OK, not actually my book, but I've borrowed it to fill in the gaps between the Queen and Country graphic novels that Greg Rucka writes. Its interesting having the same characters in dual formats by the same writer, but as I came to the books from the comics, I can't help but think this would have worked better as a comic. It just seems bloated. Also, irritatingly, despite all the characters being reasonably sensible throughout the book, they start to act in a very daft manner towards the end, and you can't help but think that they do this purely to give you a nail-biting finish, rather then because its necessary. Very annoying. Good fast read though. no reviews | add a review

Tara Chace has quit after discovering she is pregnant with her dead lover and former colleague's child.
Machinations in SIS over leadership positions and the upcoming change of leadership in Uzbekistan with an ailing president draw her back into the game in a rather dodgy mission.
However, she is back to doing what she does best, while the SIS Director Of Operations fights to work out what is going on, keep them their jobs, and find out who the hell is playing who on his own side, as well as the Americans. Plus a little matter of some lost munitions.
Then there's a little boy to save, and keeping herself alive so her own daughter has a parent.
Another absorbing spy thriller from Rucka.
